A veteran journalist, author, and editor, Fen worked as a Moscow correspondent during the collapse of the Soviet Union, reported for National Geographic from every continent but Australia, was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Fen has written or co-authored five books and helped launch and edit the award-winning online magazine, Yale Environment 360.
Fen has authored or co-authored five books, including Fraser’s Penguins: A Journey to the Future in Antarctica, which tells the tale of ecologist Bill Fraser, who has spent four decades in Antarctica studying the impact of rapid warming on fabled Adélie penguins. In Reeling in Russia, Fen recounts his epic, 100-day fly-fishing journey across Russia during the chaotic post-Soviet era.
